Day two found us on a ferry, village hopping across Lake Como using our provided boat pass. First to Bellagio, then to Cadenabbia, where we visited the Villa Carlota, and then finishing our day’s exploring back at our home base of Varenna. After dinner and a restful night’s sleep, we were off to the Dolomites. Along the way, we stopped off to visit the home of Juliet, made famous by the playwright, Shakespeare. After lunch, we started our dramatic climb into the mountains. The majestic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys from our hotel windows fed our anticipation for the next day’s hike through the alpine meadows. After two nights of peaceful sleep in the pristine mountain air, we headed for the Adriatic Sea and the romantic port city of Venice.
